According to Richard Tomlinson we do not have a carbon problem, it’s more a case of where that carbon is. Whilst we are all aware that CO2 emissions have reached record levels, fewer of us probably understand that the level of carbon in our soils is reducing at an equally alarming rate. And therein lies a real solution to our CO2 problem: on-farm AD not only generates renewable energy from farm animal waste but the carbon locked within is returned to the land in the form of digestate where it can replenish the soil.
