Enzygo, one of the UK’s leading multi-disciplinary environmental consultancies, has opened a new branch office in Monmouth as it expands throughout the UK and to help it grow further within the Welsh region.
Enzygo has quickly grown from a three-man start up in 2008 into a thriving consultancy having already established two other offices, in Bristol and Sheffield, an annual turnover in excess of £1.5m and a team approaching 20 senior professionals.
With disciplines covering waste planning, permitting, flood risk, renewables, noise, ecology, geotechnical and contaminated land, the company is looking to expand its team further in 2013 and beyond.
The new office will be headed up by Chris Formaggia, Enzygo’s director of ecology, and will serve an already sizeable list of Welsh-based clients.
Among its recent projects, Enzygo was responsible for obtaining a bat licence which allowed Monmouthshire Council to carry out routine maintenance work on the historic Monnow Bridge in Monmouth. Having already confirmed the presence of bats under the bridge in 2012, Enzygo worked closely with the contractors to ensure the roost was not disturbed while the work was carried out. In another significant project, Enzygo, by carrying out environmental impact assessments, obtained the permit to enable Swansea Drydocks to become a ship breaking yard. Enzygo is also currently carrying out flood modelling in Denbigh to look at the feasibility of redeveloping a former mill site to residential use.
